IBM Rational Test RealTime V8.3.1 has been made generally available and contains new features as well as fixes for client-reported and internally found defects.

Access type Description

Passport Advantage and Passport Advantage Express clients are required to sign in to download the software package.

If you are entitled for Rational Test RealTime and need to download your software from Passport Advantage, perform the following steps:

  1. Logon to Passport Advantage.
  2. Select Software Downloads and Media Access.
  3. Select the Download Finder.
  4. Select Find by description or part number.
  5. Select the Product Description and All radio buttons and enter Rational Test RealTime in the description field.
  6. Select Continue.
  7. Expand the eAssemblies and you will see your entitled software.

Fix Central provides fixes and updates for your system's software, hardware, and operating system.

This is a service release. It contains new features as well as fixes for client-reported and internally found defects.

Test Results

Definitions

Regression: An error in the Maintenance Delivery Vehicle (MDV) that produces incorrect or unexpected behavior causing a supported feature to stop functioning as designed.
This includes:

  • Coding errors that cause a regression
  • Documentation or packaging problems that cause a regression
  • Errors reported in a new function delivered in a MDV that cause a regression

Incomplete: An error in the MDV has not regressed, but does not work as designed.
This includes:

  • Fixed APARs which did not solve the original problem but did not break anything new
  • APARs reporting documentation errors, such as readme errors, that cause problems applying an MDV but do not lead to a regression


Notes:
  • Regression and incomplete APARs are considered fix-in-error or MDV-in-error
  • Definitions above apply only to valid APARs that result in product fixes (APARs returned as working-as-designed are not assessed for being fix-in-error)
  • Issues in major releases due to new functionality do not apply in this definition

In Eclipse, in the Test Case editor, the red cross on Stub Behavior is not refreshed after execution.  
Workaround: Select another result to display,  then re-select the original one.
Component Testing for C++ (Legacy)  TESTRT-1303
The Studio C++ wizard does not generate stub and OTD properly when the method to stub is declared into a class which is part of a template.
Workaround: Change the .stb and .otd manually once generated by the wizard.
TDP RUNTIME TESTRT-1368
The TDP cvisual10 and cvisual10_64 do not detect FIU properly due to removed system methods. 
Workaround:  Set Library/Heap Management Configuration/FIU detection to RTRT_NONE.
Component Testing for C (Legacy) PI81654
Attolcc4 is looping into the correlation loop trying to detect the possible macros definition.
Eclipse IDE TESTRT-2080 Control Coupling and Worst Stack reports are not available on Test Suite results.
Eclipse IDE TESTRT-2466 On large trace file, there is no way to stop the loading.
Code Review TESTRT-2132 Depending on the compiler definition, plain char may be signed or unsigned. So, any rule related to unsigned the type should be ignored when underlying type is a plain char.
Code Review TESTRT-2275 In chapter 10, 'essential type' is calculated for all expression nodes. Enums have a specific behavior as they can be seen either as true enum, or as signed (in case of anonymous enums). Result may be erroneous on enum constants.
Eclipse IDE TESTRT-1897 Tiny toolbar icons for Coverage and Performance reports.
Visual Test  PH29453
Testing a C file that requires header (.h) files, when linking these files, we lost the visibility of the data types (required for enumerated types and stubs that return an enumerated type). What would happen if, when adding such a stub is that the stub creation would not be completed. 
Workaround: Copy these header files rather than linking them.
