HACMP supports 10 Gigabit Ethernet-LR and -SR PCI-X adapters

July 18, 2005

IBM High Availability Cluster MultiProcessing (HACMP*) for AIX 5L* Version 5.1 and Version 5.2   now expands support to include the IBM 10 Gigabit Ethernet adapter family, feature code 5718 (SR) and 5719 (LR), on AIX 5L Version 5.2 or higher.

The IBM 10 Gigabit Ethernet-SR PCI-X Adapter (#5718) offers 10 Gigabit Ethernet PCI-X based server connections with throughput on a standard, shortwave multi-mode optical cable that conforms to the IEEE 802.3ae 10 Gigabit Ethernet-SR standard.

The IBM 10 Gigabit Ethernet-LR PCI-X Adapter (#5719) offers 10 Gigabit Ethernet PCI-X-based server connections over a maximum distance of 10 km and also conforms to the IEEE 802.3ae standard.

Please refer to the followingtable for the details.

Notes:

If you are using Hardware Address Takeover (HWAT) with any gigabit Ethernet adapters supporting flow control, you may be exposed to networking problems following an HACMP failover. Flow control on the gigabit Ethernet adapters should be turned off.

5718/5719 adapters cannot be used in single adapter networks which also support service IP addresses
