Abstract

From the Maximo Support Desk - Change The Default Filter For Asset Lookup In Create Service Request Application

Body

Some Maximo Users have indicated that it is a minor annoyance to change the Filter By setting in the Asset lookup when creating a Service Request...

The scenario that I'm referring to is when the Create Service Request application is used; the default display of the Select Value from the Asset field is to show only Assets for the logged-in User/Custodian.

The User can still view other Assets by changing the value, but in many business cases, it is preferable to allow the User to view all Assets by default.

This scenario is visible with the User steps:
1. Go To Self Service | Service Requests | Create Service Request
2. View the Asset field | Detail Menu | Select Value | Filter By: field

  • Note that the Maximo default value is User/Custodian.

To change this default, so as to allow selection of all Assets, use the following steps while logged in as an administrative user.

  1. Go to System Configuration | Platform Configuration | Database Configuration.
  2. In the Object field enter "sr" and press Enter.
  3. Click on SR.
  4. On the Attributes tab click Filter.
  5. In the Attribute field enter "assetfilterby" and press Enter.
  6. Click on ASSETFILTERBY.
  7. Expand the details for the ASSETFILTERBY Attribute.
  8. In the Default Value field, change the value !USERCUST! to !ALL!.
  9. Click on Save.
  10. Go To System Configuration | Platform Configuration | Database Configuration.
  11. Select Action | Manage Admin Mode.
  12. Click the Turn Admin Mode On button.
  13. Enter the password.
  14. Enter appropriate text in the Reason For Change field.
  15. Click OK.
  16. Click OK at the System Message.
  17. Periodically click the Refresh Status button until the System Message is displayed, then click OK.
  18. Click Close.
  19. Select Action | Apply Configuration Changes.
  20. Click the Start Configuring Database button.
  21. Enter the password and Reason For Change text, then click OK.
  22. Click OK at the System Message.
  23. Periodically click the Refresh Status button until the System Message is displayed, then click OK.
  24. Click Close.
  25. When the database configuration is complete, Select Action | Manage Admin Mode.
  26. Click the Turn Admin Mode Off button.
  27. Enter the password and Reason For Change text, then click OK.
  28. Click OK at the System Message.
  29. Periodically click the Refresh Status button until the System Message is displayed, then click OK.
  30. Click Close.

The result will be that when any User views the Select Value list on the Asset field in the Create Service Request application, all Assets will be available by default for selection.
