Abstract

From the Maximo Support Desk - Get Started With Calendars

Body

Maximo Calendars are used for work assignments, among other things.  Once a Person record and Labor record (corresponding to the Person record) is created, it is beneficial to assign this resource to a Calendar to take advantage of Maximo's scheduling and work assignment capabilities.  By implication, this is primarily used with internal labor, but it's possible to associate a Calendar with external labor to reflect that labor availability as well.

The following steps can serve as a "quick start guide" to setting up a basic Calendar.

This example will illustrate a typical five-day working week with an eight hour shift.

-Log in to maxdemo instance as maxadmin
-Go To Administration | Calendars
-Click the New Calendar button on the toolbar
-In the Calendar field enter "MON-FRI"
-In the Start Date field click the Select Date button
-Use the drop-down arrow and click January 1st
-In the End Date field click the Select Date button
-Use the drop-down arrow and click December 31st
-Save the record

-More Actions | Define/Apply Shifts
-In the Shifts section click the New Row button
-In the Shift field enter "DAY-1"
-In the Start Day field | Select Value | click SUNDAY
-In the Days in Pattern field enter 7
-Click the checkbox for row that was just created and then click the Define Pattern button
-Click the Define Pattern button
-Perform the following steps in the rows where the Sequence of Pattern Day value is 002 through 006:
-In the Start Time field click the Select Date and Time button
-Scroll down and click 08:00 AM
-In the End Time field clck the Select Date and Time button
-Scroll down and click 04:00 PM
-Repeat these steps for the other 4 rows
-Click OK, then click OK to close the dialog

-More Actions | Define/Apply Shifts
-In the Shifts section, scroll if necessary to then click the checkbox for DAY-1, then click the Apply Shift(s) button
-Click OK to apply the shift to the entire calendar then click OK again to close the dialog
-Save the record

The procedure above will allow you to get started with Calendars, and you can then create additional Calendars and Shifts to meet all of your scheduling and work assignment scenarios.
