Use the procedures in this technote, if you are upgrading from any lower versions of BAW or Case Foundation.

The Case Foundation tools and the Content Platform Engine tools must be installed in the same location. To ensure you have the most current version of the files required by Case Foundation, including those required by Case Analyzer, use the appropriate installation procedure documented in this technote to update your Case Foundation installation to run with Content Platform Engine 5.5.1 or later.

Use the procedures in this technote, if you are upgrading from any lower versions of BAW or Case Foundation.

The Case Foundation tools and the Content Platform Engine tools must be installed in the same location. To ensure you have the most current version of the files required by Case Foundation, including those required by Case Analyzer, use the appropriate installation procedure documented in this technote to update your Case Foundation installation to run with Content Platform Engine 5.5.1 or later.

New Case Foundation 5.3 installation for use with Content Platform Engine (CPE) 5.5.1 through CPE 5.5.5

  1. Install the CPE server and tools.
  2. Verify the CPE is functioning correctly.
  3. Run the Case Foundation 5.3 installer.

    Note that the Case Foundation tools must be installed in the same location as the CPE tools.

  4. Re-run the CPE installer, selecting only the Tools option to update the Case Foundation tools.

    The purpose of this step is to overwrite older files that were installed in step 3.

  5. Install Case Foundation 5.3.0 IFix001 or later.

    Case Foundation 5.3.0 IFix001 updates the Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) to perform OLAP operations for Cognos Business Intelligence reporting

    The Excel Reports and SSAS Connector options appear only on Microsoft Windows platforms.

Installing Case Foundation tools for use with Content Platform Engine 5.5.6 and later

  1. Open a support ticket and request the latest Case Foundation tools.
  2. Once access is granted, download the tools from Fix Central.
  3. Update your environment by following the instructions provided in the readme file that is supplied with the tools.

Upgrading to Case Foundation 5.3 and CPE 5.5.1 through CPE 5.5.5

  1. Upgrade the CPE server and tools to the appropriate level.
  2. Verify the CPE is functioning correctly.
  3. Run the Case Foundation 5.3 installer.

    Note the Case Foundation tools must be installed in the same location as the CPE tools.

  4. Re-run the CPE installer, selecting only the Tools option to update the Case Foundation tools.

Upgrading to CPE 5.5.6 or later when Case Foundation 5.3 is already installed

  3. Install Case Foundation 5.3.0 IFix001 or later.

    Case Foundation 5.3.0 IFix001 updates the Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) to perform OLAP operations for Cognos Business Intelligence reporting.

  4. Run the CPE client installer.

  5. Copy eeapi.jar from the directory of the CPE client installation to the "/ContentEngine/lib" directory of the Content Platform Engine installation.

Installing CPE 5.5.6 or later and the Case Foundation tools on new servers

  1. Open a support ticket and request the latest Case Foundation tools.
  2. Once access is granted, download the tools from Fix Central.
  3. Install the CPE 5.5.6 or later software.
  4. Run the Case Foundation 5.3 installer, but do not select the Tools option.
  5. Update your environment by following the instructions provided in the readme file that is supplied with the tools downloaded in Step 2.
  6. Run the Content Platform Engine client installer to download the latest version of the eeapi.jar file.
  7. Replace all the older copies of the eeapi.jar file with the version downloaded in the previous step.
